Julie Gelo

Julie Gelo is the mother to 22 children ages 15 to 54. She and her husband were licensed foster parents for 22 years. Thirteen of their children have been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. Julie and her husband having 30 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Julie has been the Family Advocate for the FASD Diagnostic team at the University of Washington for 24 years. She is the Executive Director for the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Washington State.

 She presents on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorder, The Nurtured Heart Approach, and Educational Advocacy throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.

 She enjoys reading, genealogy, photography, music, and spending time with her children and family. 

 Ms. Gelo has a recovery date of January 1, 1980 from alcoholism and addiction. She has worked professionally and personally in the field of substance abuse for many years. Her oldest birth daughter, Faith, was diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome when she was 25.
